如果我们用一个从句来表达一件事情或一个行为发生的时间, 那么这个从句就叫时间状语从句。

时间状语从句 引导词

when引导的时间状语从句可以用于不同时态,从句动作既可以是延续性动词也可以是短暂性动词。

表示当…时候。从句的动作既可和主句的动作同时发生,又可在主句的动作之前或之后发生。

He fell asleep when he was reading a book in the morning.早上他正在读书的时候，睡着了。

When I entered the classroom, they stopped talking.当我进入教室的时候，他们停止了讲话。

例题

while 表示“当……时候，与此同时”，主从句后通常都可以跟延续性动词。紧跟while的从句既可以放在主句前，也可以放在主句后。放在主句前时，要用逗号分开；放在主句后时，中间无任何符号。

I was watching TV while my wife was brushing Tik Tok.

我在看电视的时候我的妻子在刷抖音。

I was doing my homework while he was sleeping. 我正在做作业，与此同时，他正在睡觉。

while还可用作并列连词,表对比,意为“而,然而”这时前后动词时态一致。

I like freedom, while she likes money.我喜欢自由，而她喜欢金钱。

before 表示“在……之前”。

Wash your hands before you have dinner. 在你吃饭之前先洗手。

Turn off the lights before you go out. 在你出去之前关灯。

after 表示“在……之后”。

Put a nose on it after you make a snowman. 在你堆完雪人后给它按个鼻子。

Wash your hands after you play with mud. 玩泥巴之后洗手。

until 表示“直到……”，指直到……主句的动作才结束。主句谓语动词必须是延续性动词。

not...until表示“直到……才”，指直到……主句的动作才开始。主句谓语动词可以是延续性动词或者短暂性动词。

till和until用法相同，但是till不能用于句首。

He played games until it was dark. 他一直玩游戏到天黑。

He didn't stop playing games until his mother came back.直到他妈妈回来他才停止玩游戏。

as soon as 表示“一……就……”。通常主句用一般将来时，从句用一般现在时，即“主将从现”。除了时间状语从句外 ，遵循主将从现原则的还有if, unless 等引导的条件状语从句。
